I Remember

Mom, I Miss You
It has been eight years since you left us for better and greener pastures.
It feels that it was only yesterday.  I will never forget that peaceful look on your face.
It had to be the look of someone who was in the presence of Jesus.
You grew up in poverty and you had a hard life but you maintained your faith in God and did the best to teach us all four boys the difference between right and wrong.
We did not have much either as kids but we had you. You took great care of us, you fed us and you always had clean clothes to dress us up for school.
Mana, you did not give us the tools and the right foundations for life by preaching to us but by demonstrating your love for others.
You probably did not know this but I watched you many times practicing charity and kindness to less fortunate neighbors. I still remember when many times early in the evening you would sneak out a bottle of olive oil for the widow down the street in secret with no boasting but with tenderness and love.
Mom, I am certain that you had a positive influence in my life and I am who I am today, a believer in Christ, because you laid out the first cobblestones on my path to the Great Master.
I will love you forever and I know that you and Jesus are busy preparing that great mansion in the sky just for me and those in our family who have placed their trust in the Lord.
John C.
